Car Wash - Share Jesus' love with Whickham
We are starting the car washes early this year. The first is the 6th March from 10.00 to 12.00 and again on Good Friday. Sign up sheets on the notice board. This is a unique opportunity for us to show our love to the people of Whickham, meet new people and build relationships. We need YOU whether it is to pray, help with tea or coffee and definitely to wash cars. Many people will make a splash, a handful will look damp! So please join us as we seek to serve the Lord as His community in our community.

Women’s World Day of Prayer

Women’s World Day of Prayer is Friday 5th March and is an opportunity to join with Christians around the world in a service prepared by the women of Cameroon. Do come and join us at St Mary’s Anglican Church at 2 p.m. when the speaker is Rev.
Barry Abbott.

All are welcome and we look forward to seeing you.

The Lent for Everyone

The Lent for Everyone books are now available. We are asking for a £4 donation per book which can either be handed to me or put on the plate in an envelope
identifying it as such. If there is any surplus over and above the cost of the books this will go to the Kosova Gift.

Mothering Sunday - March 14th

Mothering Sunday - March 14th
Last Mothering Sunday we made a special collection and this was sent to SMILE International to be used for their sponsored widow programme in Kosova. These ladies, all widowed as a result of the war in that country, struggle as mothers to support their families and the money we raised gave them a day in the SMILE centre with good food, a chance to relax and talk, and a gift to take home. We are intending to do the same this year, so this is an advanced notice. If people would like to make a donation in thanks for, or in memory of their mother or someone who has been a mother to them then please bring that donation to Church on Mothering Sunday. There will be a small tree in the vestibule and flowers to hang on the tree in recognitionof our mothers.

The church will be open from 7.00pm for prayer, and there will be a short service at 8.00pm to mark the beginning of Lent, the end of our series on the 7 Marks of a Healthy Church, and the beginning of a new project, ‘The Big Read’.  This is based on the book ‘Lent for Everyone – Luke’ by Tom Wright, Bishop of Durham.  Tom is a world authority on Luke’s Gospel, and this course comes highly recommended.  There are copies of this book on order, but due to high demand, we have to wait for the reprint!
